More Money, Less Problems

23 Sep

The right to an education should be equal; however, history has proven this is not always the case. The New York Times recently reported that with the decrease in state funding and the constant pressure to maintain a solid reputation schools are forced to focus on admitting students that will need no financial assistance. In fact, the article states that 10 percent of admissions directors at four-year colleges and almost 20 percent at liberal-arts schools reported, on average,  full-pay students had lower test scores and grades in comparison to other applicants. Universities seem to be stuck in a bind over what is ethical and what is practical.

What are your thoughts? What would you suggest for prospective students needing financial assistance?
